Abduljabbar Abdulkarim

(Founder and Director)


Professional Project Director with over 37 years of hands-on experience in the oil refining industry with expertise in management of high-value capital investment projects across all phases of development including strategy roadmap development, business framework finalization, project organization set-up and project financing.  

Proven ability to lead and manage a portfolio of projects with multi-national / multi-disciplinary project teams and international contractors. Successfully carried out various projects related to hydro-processing facilities and the environment when he led the Major Engineering Projects Division in Bahrain Petroleum Company.  

As part of a core group tasked with developing a strategy to keep the Bapco Refinery competitive in the region, he was a key member to successfully complete the execution of the Low Sulphur Diesel Production (LSDP) Project, besides other projects, under the decade-long Strategic Investment Program (SIP) initiated in late 1990s. A result of this SIP was that Bapco Refinery became the first refinery in the Middle East to successfully demonstrate the capability of producing nearly 100,000 barrels per day of Euro V Diesel and Group III Lube Oil Base Stock. 

He is a Mechanical Engineer by discipline and holds Master’s Degree of Science in Engineering Project Management and is a Professional Member of Bahrain Society of Engineers (M815)


Talal Alzain



Mr. Talal Al Zain is the founder and director of JISR Capital.

Mr. Al Zain previously was the CEO of PineBridge Investments Middle East and a member of PineBridge’s Global Executive Committee and Co-Head of Global Alternative Investments.

Prior to joining PineBridge Investments, he was a member of the founding board and the CEO of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, the sovereign wealth fund and investment arm for the Kingdom of Bahrain. Prior to Mumtalakat, Mr. Al Zain spent 18 years with Investcorp as Managing Director and Co-Head of Placement and Relationship Management.

Before that he was Vice President of Private Banking International and Head of Investment Banking Middle East with the Chase Manhattan Bank, Geneva. Prior to that, he was a corporate banker with Citibank Corporate Banking Division Bahrain focused on trading & manufacturing. Mr. Al Zain is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Islamic Bank and ALUBAF.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Oglethorpe University as well as a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Mercer University, Atlanta. He attended the Management Development Program at Harvard Business School


Francisco Anzola



Francisco Anzola is a finance and project management professional with over 20 years of experience in the banking, engineering, and construction industries. Mr. Anzola is an expert in structured and project finance, with extensive knowledge of export credit agency and multi-lateral agency financing programs.  

As a Vice President at Commerzbank AG, New York, Mr. Anzola originated and executed limited recourse financing transactions for customers across many industrial sectors. Prior to joining Commerzbank, he enjoyed a long career at Fluor Corporation, where he worked in a variety of project management and finance positions. 

Mr. Anzola has an MBA in Finance from Columbia University, and is a chemical engineer from Universidad Simón Bolívar in Venezuela. He is fluent in English and Spanish, and proficient in German and Portuguese.


Shardool Desai

(Principal Civil & Structural Engineer)


Lead Civil & Structural Engineer with more than 45 years of professional experience in planning, field investigation, design, construction, contracts, engineering and management of engineering projects in India & Middle East. Extensive experience with international clients, consultants and EPC contractors. Coordinated activities of disciplinary teams consisting of various nationalities and participating international organizations based in different countries. Prepared and implemented several international contracts based upon FIDIC and MF1 conditions.

Accomplished several projects as Team Leader, Project Engineer, Resident Engineer & Project Manager utilizing modern survey, design and construction technologies and project management methodology, processes and knowledge areas. Experience in Power, Chemical, Paper, Steel, Tele-Communication, Aluminium, Petroleum, Recreation, Township & Sports complex, Bridge, Roads, Sewage etc. Infrastructure projects.

Certified PMP, Professional Engineer & Member of PMI, ASCE, CSCE, ICE, BSE & IEI.


Joseph Huse



Joseph Huse is the Managing Director of Newton Consult. He works closely with a number of key clients, including the Government of Bahrain. Prior to 2012, he was the MENA Regional Managing Partner of Freshfields Bruckhaus and Deringer and a member of its Projects and International Arbitration Groups for over twenty years. Joseph has extensive experience in the field of management consulting and is a leading expert in the structuring and management of infrastructure and energy projects.

In addition, he has worked on the development and reorganization of legal departments for companies located throughout the world. He is the author of Understanding and Negotiating EPC and Turnkey Contracts (third edition), published by Sweet & Maxwell.

Joseph received a JD/MBA from Boston College and a Masters in Business and Tax Law from the University of Paris I (Pantheon-Sorbonne).
